Weekly Update - Kick

Rachel was all about kicking this weekend. She discovered her feet yesterday, and has since been alternating between grabbing her feet and tucking up into a ball, and kicking ferociously, especially when she's excited or in the bathtub.

Her initial enthusiasm about rolling over has waned, though she will still do it from time to time. We removed the bumper from her crib to prevent her from rolling into it and possibly suffocating, but that has had two possibly unintended consequences:
  • I awoke at 2:00 am last night to find that she had squirmed enough to get a foot stuck between the bars of the crib. This wasn't enough to wake her up, but her regular twitching against the bars was enough to get me out of bed.
  • Removing the bumper has coincided with her sudden desire to awake at 4:00 in the morning. I know that we have been truly blessed as a couple, since Rachel's been sleeping through the night from seven weeks; however, as Anne would say, it's all relative: we already miss that extra hour of sleep we used to get.

That's about it for now. She goes back to school tomorrow after the Memorial Day holiday, and is looking forward to seeing her Grandma Susi this Wednesday
